Simple Butter Icing
1/2 cup vegetable shortening
1/2 cup real butter
icing sugar
Beat the shortening and butter together until creamy. Add the icing sugar is small amounts until your get it to the consistency you want. Taste it and if it is a bit too sweet add some vinegar a drop at a time, until the sweetness is cut.
I use the dip and twirl method as well and this icing is really compatible for that.
