Chicken on a Throne
1 whole chicken
1/2 can of beer
2 tablespoons each:
paprika
salt
pepper
lemon juice
garlic
thyme
Preheat oven to 275-300° F.
Mix the spices together and rub all over inside and outside of bird. I also mix up some additional spice and add it to the can of beer. Doing this bastes it from the inside and flavors the whole chicken. You may also use a little butter on it if you like.
Place the beer can on a roasting pan in the oven. "Impale" the bird onto the beer can. He will be standing upright.
Roast for 2 to 2 1/2 hours until meat is very tender. Make sure to remove the can of beer after you
show it to everyone. They all get a kick out of how this is prepared.
