My friend BKeith Ryder is an award-winning cake designer and decorator...it's worth a trip to his site to see some of his creations...you won't believe your eyes. And while you're there, check out his recipe collection. This guy really knows how to cook. How do I know? I saw him at work in my own kitchen!

- Baker Boulanger
0 surveyed - Rate this site
Cookbook author and food writer Marcy Goldman has really outdone herself with the Baker Boulanger site. But don't make the mistake of thinking this is just about cookies, cakes and bread. Her recipe collection includes foods in all categories. For instance, everyone has their own favorite Caesar Salad recipe (see my own recipe collection for mine), but Marcy gives you the original recipe as created by Chef Caesar (of Mexico). Looking for something really different? The Spicy Middle Eastern Pizza is a sure palate pleaser. Learn how to poach a salmon or get help whipping up a whole mess of chicken wings (there are many styles to choose from, plus dipping sauces), pies, cakes, jams. Not just recipes, either. Read her well-prepared articles and be sure to take a few minutes on her helpful hints section. If you have a problem making a pie crust (I finally learned about five years ago), Marcy gives you the straight dope...from comments about shortening and liquid to various suggestions relating to techniques. She even has a search engine in case you're looking for something particular on her website. Each issue contains all new articles and recipes. If you miss an issue or want a peek backward, Marcy also archives all her gems. While you're there, be sure to check out the description of her upcoming cookbook called "A Treasury of Jewish Holiday Baking" (with sample recipes from that). To make it all even better, it's all presented in an easy-to-follow format. If I gave ratings, Better Baking would shoot to the top. (You should be able to tell just from the size of this entry that I really like this website!)

- Betty Crocker
0 surveyed - Rate this site
Betty Crocker has a terrific website. Looking for some menu ideas? Browse the recipes, and when you find one that appeals to you, print it out and mark it for shopping. When you're finished gathering recipes, you will also have created a shopping list. Each item in the recipes will be listed by category and amount needed, with the name of the recipe alongside each. Could it be any simpler? Hardly. Or approach it from the other direction: You have some ingredients on hand and need a recipe to use them...this is the site for you. Need more help? Read the FAQ (frequently asked questions), read the various baking columns, or write "Betty" for help.

The Broiler Council has chicken for you. Get National Chicken Contest winning recipes, tips for success cooking, safety suggestions, and a searchable database. No kidding, you can search by cuisine, cooking method, or even by body part (the chicken's body, that is). All in all, a very friendly site...unless you're a chicken. :-)

Busy Cooks From time to time, and on a regular basis, I get letters from busy people, those "on the go," asking for help. Just because your schedule is full doesn't mean you have to settle for uninteresting, unappetizing or simply plain meals. Lots of help at this site for those with limited time to devote to food planning and preparation, or even for those who choose to spend their time doing other things. Very well done.
