Puff Pastry Surprise Packages

  Ingredients: 
  1 package (17 1/4-ounces) puff pastry
  1 egg 
  1 tablespoon water 
  Assorted Fillings * 

  Cooking Instructions: 

Preheat oven to 400°F.

Thaw pastry sheets at room temperature 30 minutes. 

Mix egg and water and set aside. 

Unfold pastry on lightly floured surface and roll each sheet into 12-inch 
square and cut into 16 (3-inch) squares. 

Place filling in center of square. Brush edges of squares with egg mixture. 

Fold corners to center over filling and pinch edges to seal. Place on 
baking sheet. 

Bake 15 minutes or until golden. Makes 32 appetizers. 

*Use one of the following fillings: 

1-inch chunks of ham, pepperoni or lunchmeat 
2 teaspoons ham or chicken spread 
1 teaspoon cream cheese (plain or flavored)
slice of jalapeņo pepper or green olive 
2 teaspoons seafood or whitefish salad
1 teaspoon prepared pesto 
sun dried tomatoes, oil packed and chopped
Marinated mushroom 
1-inch piece of marinated artichoke heart
