Deliciously Different Sausage Bites
20 -25 Pork breakfast sausage links, such as Oscar Mayer®, Bob Evans® etc.)
1/2 cup butter, no substitute
2 cups brown sugar, firmly packed
1 cup rum
In frying pan, electric skillet or on George Forman's grill, cook sausages until nicely browned and thoroughly cooked.
Drain on paper towels.
Cut each sausage link into three bite size pieces; set aside.
This can be done ahead of time on the day that it is needed.
In saucepan, over medium heat, melt the one stick of butter with the brown sugar.
Bring to a boil and let bubble for 4-6 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Remove saucepan from the heat and slowly add the rum.
Return pan to heat and let the caramely/rum mixture simmer on low for about 10 minutes.
Add the browned sausages.
Serve in fondue pot or chafing dish.
