  Marinated Fried Tofu 
  2 blocks extra firm tofu 
  4 cups veggie oil 
  1/2 cup soy sauce 
  1/2 tablespoon finely chopped garlic 
  1 tablespoon sugar 
  1/2 cup water 
  1/2 tsp hot pepper paste 
  1 tsp sesame oil 
  chopped scallion for garnish 
  Cut tofu in blocks diagonally into 8 triangular pieces. Dry on paper 
towel. 
In a deep saucepan, heat oil. Put half of the tofu in oil and fry until
 golden brown. Fry remaining tofu.
 Place fried tofu in a large microwavable
 container.
 Add soy sauce, garlic, sugar, water and hot pepper. 
Cover with lid; shake well to combine. 
Microwave for 5 minutes. Shake again. Set aside for 1 hour to allow tofu to absorb flavor. Serve hot or cold. Garnish with scallion slices.
