Babka
1 package yeast (I used 2 1/4 teaspoons as I buy it in one pound bags)
4 cups bread flour
1/2 cup sugar
1 teaspoon salt (I used 1/2 teaspoon)
1/4 cup water
1 cup milk
1/4 pound butter
2 eggs
3/4 cup golden raisins (optional)
Topping:
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/3 cup flour
1/4 cup butter
Egg Wash
Put ingredients in bread machine according to manufacturer, on dough cycle. After cycle is complete, start machine to flatten dough and let it rise again in bread machine for 45 minutes. Take it out and place in two bread pans. Let rise for one more hour. Divide dough into two greased bread pans (it makes two beautiful high loaves).
Topping: Mix ingredients for topping. Brush top of loaves with milk... I did not use the egg wash. Recipe calls for putting topping on after it has risen and ready for oven, but I did this step before the last rising. Bake in 350 degree oven for approximately 30 to 45 minutes.
