Gourmet Alley Garlic Bread
Source: Gilroy Garlic Festival
1/2 cup each butter and margarine
1/2 cup oil
3 cloves fresh garlic, minced
1/2 tsp pepper
1/4 tsp oregano
1/2 cup white wine
3 Tblsp fresh parsley, chopped
2 loaves sweet French bread
Melt butter and margarine in pan. Add oil and garlic and simmer over low heat for one minute.
Add pepper, oregano and wine. Bring to a boil. Add parsley.
Remove immediately from heat, and pour into large baking pan.
Cut loaves in half lengthwise. Toast on grill or under broiler until golden brown.
Dip toasted halves, cut side down, in butter mixture. Serve immediately.
