Teddy Bear Bread

8 to 10 cups of flour
1 tsp salt
2 pkg dry yeast
3 cups scalded milk
1/2 cup sugar
1/3 cup melted butter

In a large bowl, blend three cups of flour and the salt.

In a medium saucepan, scald the milk, then add the sugar and butter. When the mixture has cooled to lukewarm, add the yeast and set aside to proof for 10 minutes. Slowly add the milk mixture to the dry ingredients and beat until well blended. Add another 3 cups of flour and mix well until the dough is thick enough to knead. Turn the dough out on a lightly floured surface and let rest for 10 minutes. Knead the dough for 10 minutes.

Place the dough a well oiled bowl and turn to ensure that the dough is covered on all sides with oil. Cover with a damp cloth and set aside to rise until double in size. Punch down the dough and turn out on a floured surface.

Divide the dough in half and roll each half into a ball. Set one ball aside and cover while you shape the first bear. Take 1/3 to 1/2 the dough and form the belly. The more dough, the chubbier the bear.

Preheat the oven to 375o. Divide the remaining dough in half. Set on half aside and with the other form the head. Divide the remaining dough in half again. Set one aside and use the other to form two ears.

Again divide the dough and form in order legs and arms. With the last small piece of dough form the eyes, nose, tongue and belly button Brush with either egg, milk, or both and bake on a greased baking sheet for 25 to 30 minutes or until brown. Remove from baking pan very carefully. Cool on a wire rack.

The pattern for the bear can be done with any bread. It can also be done in difftent sizes, keeping an eye on cooking times
