3 cups flour 
1 tsp. salt 
4 Tbsp.shortening 
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder 
1 beaten egg 
1 cup chicken broth 
Combine all dry ingredients, add shortening and cut in until 
it resembles cornmeal. 
Add egg and broth (make sure broth is cooled). Mix well and turn out onto 
floured surface.
 Do not roll....pat dough down lightly into a rectangle until approx.
 1/4 inch thick, (this keeps the dumpling from getting "tough"). 
Cut into squares. 
Drop into boiling broth. Once all dumplings are in broth reduce heat and 
cover for 10 minutes, stir every so often.
