Monkey Bread

3/4 cup milk
1/4 cup warm water
1 pkg. dry yeast
1/4 cup plus 1 tsp. sugar
1 tsp. salt
1 cup melted butter
3 cups flour
Scald milk, cool to luke warm

Add yeast to warm water and 1 tsp. sugar, let proof (about 5-10 minutes).

Stir milk, yeast mixture, salt, and 1/2 cup butter together. Gradually add flour.

Oil a bowl, or use vegetable spray. Form dough into a ball and place in bowl, make sure to turn dough over so that the top is also oiled. Let rise for about 1 hour til double in size. Punch down dough. Turn out and knead for a few minutes.

Roll out into a 17 x 12 rectangle. Cut dough into elongated diamond shapes (with long side facing you start on the left hand side and cut every 2 inches on a 30° angle, then work the opposite way to make the diamonds, neatness and exact measuring are not critical, just a rough guideline).

Dip pieces in remaining melted butter and layer into a bundt pan. Cover and let rise 1 hour or til double. Bake at 400°F 25 - 30 minutes in the middle of oven.
