DATE AND NUT BREAD (bake in a can)
2 C. Chopped Dates
2 C. Boiling Water
2 t. Baking Soda
2 C. Walnuts, whole or coarsely chopped
2 T. Butter
2 C. Sugar
2 Eggs
3 C. Flour
Heat oven to 350°.
Grease and flour 3 one-pound coffee cans.
Pour boiling water over dates; add soda and nuts while hot.
Mix and let cool. Meanwhile, cream together butter, sugar and eggs.
Add cooled date mixture and flour alternately to creamed mixture at low
speed.
Fill prepared cans half full. Bake for one hour.
