Holiday Poppy Seed Bread with Orange Glaze

For Bread:
3 cups flour
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1 1/2 cups milk
1 1/2 teaspoons almond extract
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 1/2 teaspoons butter flavoring
2 1/4 cups sugar
2 tablespoons poppy seeds
3 eggs
1 1/8 cups vegetable oil

For Glaze:
3/4 cup sugar
3/4 cup orange juice
1/2 teaspoon almond extract
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon butter flavoring


For bread batter, mix together flour, salt, baking powder, milk, almond extract, vanilla extract, butter flavoring, sugar, poppy seeds, eggs and oil. Pour into 2 greased and floured loaf pans.

Bake at 350 degrees for 45 to 60 minutes or until wooden tester comes out clean.

For orange glaze, mix together sugar and juice. Cook over medium-low heat until sugar dissolves. Add almond, vanilla and butter flavorings. Poke holes in warm bread and pour glaze over it all. Set aside for 15 minutes before removing from pans to cooling rack.

Yield 2 loaves.
