Simple Stollen

1 (8 oz) pkg cream cheese, softened
1/4 c sugar
1 1/2 to 2 tsp rum flavoring
1/4 c chopped blanched almonds
1/2 c seedless raisins
1/4 c chopped maraschino cherries
2 (8 oz) cans Crescent Rolls

Glaze:
1 c powdered sugar
2 tbsp milk


Preheat to 375.

Beat cream cheese and sugar together until fluffy.

Stir in remaining ingredients, except Crescent rolls.

Unroll dough and divide into 4 long rectangles.

Spread on a greased cookie sheet, overlapping long sides and pressing perforations closed.

Press until it forms a square, measuring 13" by 13".

Spread, in a 5 inch wide strip down center of dough and within 1 inch of ends, cream cheese mixture.

Fold 1 inch ends over cheese filling.

Bring sides over filling, overlapping edges and pinch edges to seal.

Bake at 375 for 25 to 30 minutes or until light brown. Cool then glaze.

Glaze: combine ingredients then spoon over top of bread.

Garnish with more cherries and almonds if desired.

Makes 12 to 14 servings - refrigerate leftovers.
