Pumpkin Griddle Cakes

1 Cup Cornmeal
1 Tablespoon Light Brown Sugar
1/2 Tsp salt
1/4 Tsp Baking Soda
1/2 Cup Pumkin Puree
1/3 Cup Water
1 Large Egg, beaten
2 Tablespoons Browned Butter

-butter for frying
-maple syrup, for serving

Mix cornmeal, sugar, salt and baking soda in a large bowl. Add the pumpkin puree, water and egg and mix well.
Stir in the melted butter.

Grease a stove-top griddle or heavy frying pan and heat until very hot. Drop heaping tablespoons of batter onto the griddle or pan and fry until lightly browned, turning over once. (just like with pancakes) Serve with syrup if you like.
