All Occasion Downy Yellow Butter Cake

2 cups cake flour (200 grams)
1 cup sugar (200 grams)
12 tbsp. butter or margarine (170 grams)
1 cup milk
4 large egg yolks
2-1/4 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tbsp.+ 1 tsp. baking powder


Grease and flour two 9-inch pans(if making white cake be sure to put parchment on bottom of pans, grease this, too).Heat oven to 350°.

Sift flour and baking powder into large bowl. Add sugar and salt.

Combine yolks and 1/4 cup milk and vanilla in medium bowl. Beat lightly. Beat dry ingredients on low speed for about 30 seconds to blend. Add butter and remaining milk, beat 30 seconds to combine, then beat 1-1/2 minutes on medium or high speed. Add egg mix in three batches, beating 30 seconds after each addition. Scrape bowl often.

Pour batter into prepared pans and bake 25-30 minutes.
