Apple Pudding Cake
1/4 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
1 egg, well beaten
1 c. all-purpose flour
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. chopped nuts
3 1/2 to 4 c. chopped apples
Preheat oven to 325 degrees.
Cream shortening and sugar; add beaten egg, then add dry ingredients, nuts and apples. Spread in 9-inch baking dish and bake 45 minutes to an hour.
Sauce:
2 Tbsp. butter
2 Tbsp. all-purpose flour
3/4 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1 Tbsp. lemon juice
1 1/2 c. water
Combine and cook over low heat until thickened. Serve over apple pudding cake.
