Chocolate-Sprinkled Brown Sugar Cake
For 1 cake, 10 to 12 servings, you will need:

3 c. all-purpose flour
3 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
2 c. firmly packed light brown sugar
3/4 c. (3/8 lb.) firm butter or margarine
1 c. milk
2 tsp. vanilla
2 eggs
3 Tbsp. firm butter or margarine
1/2 c. chopped walnuts
1/3 c. chocolate sprinkles


In a mixing bowl, stir together flour, baking powder and salt. Thoroughly mix in brown sugar. Cut in the 3/4 cup butter until mixture forms fine crumbs; remove and reserve 1 cup of flour-butter mixture for topping.

To remaining flour-butter mixture, add milk, vanilla and egg. Beat until batter is smooth. Spread batter in a buttered, lightly floured 13 x 9-inch baking pan. Cut the 3 tablespoons butter into reserved flour-butter
mixture; stir in walnuts and chocolate sprinkles. Sprinkle evenly over batter.

Bake cake at 350 degrees until pick inserted near center comes out clean, about 45 minutes. Cool, then cut into squares.
