Cake Chocolate Dobash from Hawaii

3 eggs, separated-beat whites till frothy, gradually beat in:
1 1/2 C granulated sugar. Beat till stiff.
Sift together:
1 1/2 C flour
1/4 t baking soda
3/4 t salt
1/3 C Ghirardelli cocoa
Form a well, add in the center:
1/3 C salad oil
1/2 C milk
beat till well blended, then add:
egg yolks
1/2 C milk

Beat till smooth, fold in meringue. Pour into 2-8" pans. Bake 350 degrees for 30 to 35 minutes. Cool. Slice layers in 1/2 to make 4 layers.

Frosting:
1 1/2 C water
1 C granulated sugar
1/4 t salt
1/2 C Ghirardelli cocoa
Combine and bring to a boil.
Combine:
1/3 C cornstarch
1/2 C water

Add to boiling mixture, then boil again. Cool. Frost cake and enjoy! Do NOT substitute any other brand of chocolate.
