1/2 cup Crisco
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
2 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 1/4 cups flour
1/8 teaspoon salt
1/2 baking soda
1 package dates -- chopped
1/2 cup water
1 cup walnuts -- chopped

Batter: Cream together Crisco, sugar, brown sugar. Add eggs and vanilla. Add flour, salt and baking soda. Blend
togehter.If too soft, add little flour to make pliable dough. Chill in refrigerator. Leave at room temp before using.

Filling: Simmer together dates, walnuts and water until thick and mushy.

Divide batter into thirds. Roll between 2 pieces of saran wrap into 18" square. spread filling over. Roll jelly roll
fashion.Seal ends. Sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar.
Bake 350 for 1/2 hour.
