DOBOS TORTE

Torte:

12 eggs, separated
24 Tbsp. sugar
8 Tbsp. flour
8 Tbsp. cracker meal
8 Tbsp. chopped walnuts
5 Tbsp. black coffee
2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. vanilla

Filling:
2 c. granulated sugar
4 Tbsp. butter
1 1/2 sq. bitter chocolate,
melted
4 Tbsp. milk
1/2 tsp. vanilla

Blend sugar and egg yolks; beat well, about 1/2 hour by
hand. Add ingredients, one at a time, beating after each
addition. Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites. Bake in lightly
greased large round pan in a 350 degrees oven for about 1 hour.

When cool, cut into as many layers as desired. Fill and ice with filling/icing. Filling: Add sugar to melted chocolate, stir well, cooking over low flame. Add butter, milk and vanilla, stirring all the while; cook until thick. Use between layers and on top of cake.
