Ginger Cake by pwhayes
2 1/2 cups sifted all purpose flour
1 3/4 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp ground ginger
1 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp ground cloves
1/4 tsp salt
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup vegetable shortening
1 cup molasses
1 cup boiling water
2 eggs, well beaten
1. Sift together firts 6 ingredients; set aside.
2. Cream sugar with shortening and molasses until well blended.
3. Add dry ingredients to cream mixture, a little at time. Stir in eggs..
4. Pour into well greased 13x9x2 inch baking pan.
5 Bake at 350 for 30 minutes or until center springs back. Cool on rack to room temperature. Cut into large squares
