Cake Kahlua Chocolate Cake

Kahlua Chocolate Cake
from the good people at Kahlua

3 egg whites
3/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup butter
1 cup brown sugar
3 egg yolks
2 1/4 cups flour
1/2 cup cocoa
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
3/4 cup strong cold coffee
3/4 cup Kahlua


Grease and flour two 9" round pans. Preheat oven to 350.

Beat egg whites until soft peaks form. Gradually add sugar, beating until stiff peaks form; set aside.

Cream butter and brown sugar until fluffy. One at a time, add egg yolks, beating well after each.

Sift flour, cocoa and baking soda together. Add to creamed mixture alternately with coffee and Kahlua, beating well after each addition. Fold egg whites into batter.

Bake 30-35 minutes. Cool 10 minutes before turning out onto wire racks.

Frost with Kahlua Frosting or Mocha Fluff.



Kahlua Frosting

6 tbsp. butter
1 lb. box sifted powdered sugar
3 tbsp. cocoa
3 tbsp. Kahlua
2-3 tbsp. hot coffee


Cream butter, then add powdered sugar and cocoa. While beating continually, add Kahlua. Still beating continually, add hot coffee until of thick and smooth consistency.




Mocha Fluff

1 cup powdered sugar
1/4 cup cocoa
1 tsp. instant coffee, finely ground
2 cups whipping cream


In chilled bowl with chilled beaters, beat all ingredients together until stiff.
