Norwegian Cake

1 cup butter 1 cup sour milk
1 cup sugar 1 cup chopped nuts
2 eggs, beaten 1/2 cup chopped dates
1 tsp vanilla 1/4 cup raisins
1 tsp baking soda grated rind of 2 oranges and
2-1/2 cups sifted flour 1 lemon
1 tsp baking powder

Cream butter and gradually add sugar, beating after each addition until light and fluffy.

Add beaten eggs and vanilla; mix.

Sift dry ingredients together. Blend about 1/3 of dry ingredients with egg mixture.

Now add aboutt 1/2 of sour milk and stir til smooth.

Continue adding ingredients and milk alternately until all are blended. Fold in nuts, dates, raisins and grated rind.

Grease loaf pan and line with wax paper; grease again. Pour batter into pan and bak at 350 degrees F for 35-45 min.

While cake bakes, combine juice of 2 oranges and 1 lemon with 3/4 cup sugar and boil 3 min.

When cake is done, remove pan from oven and pour juice mixture over top. Let cake stand in pan for 2 hours before cutting.
