Redskins Famous Rum Cake

1 box golden cake mix
1/2 cup oil
1/2 cup water
1 cup chopped nuts (optional)
4 eggs
1/2 cup light rum
3 oz. instant vanilla pudding
1/2 cup chopped marachino cherries

Glaze:
1 stick butter
1/4 cup water
1/4 cup rum
1 cup sugar


Preheat oven to325° F and grease and flour a Bundt pan.

Dump all the ingredients (except cherries and nuts) in a bowl and mix just until blended - 2 minutes with hand mixer.

Place chopped nuts and cherries in the bottom of a well greased and floured Bundt pan. Pour mixture on top.

Bake for 1 hour at 325 degrees. Test cake after 50 minutes.


Glaze:
Mix ingredients and bring to a boil for 1 minute.

Poke a hundred holes in cake with a long tinged fork and pour hot mixture on top. Let cake soak in pan for at least 30 minutes.

Serves 8 - 10.

NOTE: Can add coconut to batter.
