Refrigertor Mocha Torte

REFRIGERATOR MOCHA TORTE

1 (2 layer) sponge cake or any other flavor cake
1/4 c. creme de cacao
1 pt. heavy cream
1 1/2 Tbsp. cocoa
1 1/2 Tbsp. instant coffee
1 pt. thick commercial fudge
sauce
1/2 c. slivered almonds

Any 8-inch sponge cake recipe or a commercially prepared
cake may be used. Split to make 4 layers. Place layer on
large plate and sprinkle with 1 tablespoon creme de cacao.
Whip cream and mix in cocoa and coffee.

Spread fudge sauce over layer sprinkled with creme de cacao. Over that, spread whipped cream mixture. Place second layer on top and repeat with creme de cacao, fudge sauce and whipped cream. Do same with third layer.

Top with last layer and cover sides and top with remainder of whipped cream. Refrigerate overnight. Just before serving, garnish top and sides with almonds. Makes 8 to 10 servings.

***Note*** - you could always leave the coffee out if you don't care for it.
