Teapot Cake

1 package white cake mix and ingredients to prepare cake
2 cans white frosting
White foam or paper plate
Food coloring
Candy

Prepare mix according to directions. Divide batter evenly between two greased and floured 11/2 quart bowls. Bake at 325 degrees for 50 to 58 minutes. Cool in bowls for 10 minutes, then invert onto a wire rack to cool completely.

To assemble: Cut one 1" slice from large end of each cake layer to level. Using a three-inch round cookie cutter, cut out a "teapot lid" from one cake slice and set aside.

Place one cake layer, small side down and wide side up. Ice the wide side and place the second layer with wide side down on top of frosted first layer. You will have the round body of the teapot.

Place a small amount of icing on top of the cake and attach the "lid." Set aside about 1/2 cup of icing for spout and handle and ice the cake. Let the cake stand for a few minutes to allow icing to set. Place plastic wrap over icing and gently pat surface to smooth it out.

Cut spout and handle from white foam or paper plate. Push spout and handle into sides of cake and ice.

Decorate as desired.
