Tea Cakes
2 c sugar
1/2 c butter
1/2 c shortening
1/2 c buttermilk
3 eggs, beaten
1/2 tsp soda
2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp vanilla
enough flour to make a soft dough
Cream the butter and shortening. Add sugar, then the beaten eggs. Into one cup of flour, sift soda and baking powder. Add this to the sugar mixture.
Add milk and vanilla, then enough flour to make a soft dough. Turn onto a floured board, and knead until it is
smooth. Roll out to 1/4 inch thick. Cut in any desired shape. Bake at 350 about 10 minutes, or until brown. Yield:
6 dozen.
