Frosting White Velvet Icing

White Velvet Icing

1/4 C flour
1 C milk
1 1/2 sticks (6 oz) butter softened
1 1/2 C powdered sugar
pinch salt
1 tsp vanilla


Whisk flour and 1/4 C milk until smooth.

Gradually add rest of milk.

Bring to boil stirring constantly until thickened, 4 to 5 min.

Boil, whisking 1 min.

Remove from heat and cool completely, whisking occasionally.

In a medium bowl, beat butter with an electric mixer on medium speed until smooth and creamy.

Gradually add powdered sugar and salt, continue to beat until light and fluffy, about 2 min.

Beat in vanilla.

Gradually beat in thickened milk mixture, 1 TBSP at a time, until icing is very light, smooth and spreadable.
