Cold Water Pound Cake

3/4 cup each butter and shortening mixed
2 cups sugar
3 cups flour
1/4 teaspoon soda
1 teaspoon each cream of tartar, salt, vanilla, and lemon juice
1 cup cold water
3 eggs


Preheat oven to 325 degrees F.

Cream shortening, sugar, add cold water, cream of tartar, vanilla and lemon juice. Beat eggs well separately, add alternately with flour, soda and salt.

Bake in a medium sized loaf pan at 325° until a long toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean

Note: If you want that deep yellow color just add a few drops of yellow food coloring to the batter.
