Pound Cake Mama's

Mama's Pound Cake

1 c. butter (no substitutes), softened
2 c. sugar
6 eggs
2 c. sifted all-purpose flour
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. almond flavoring


Preheat oven to 325 degrees.

Prepare bundt pan by putting about 1 Tablespoon of butter in pan.

Cream softened butter and sugar about 10 minutes with mixer on high.

Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.

Add flavorings and flour; mixing in by hand or on a very slow mixer speed.

Do not overbeat while adding flour, but mix it well.

When adding eggs, place bundt pan in oven to melt butter and get pan hot.

Use a pastry brush to grease pan (need this step even if it's a no-stick bundt pan...don't leave it out) and pour any left over butter into cake mixture.

Pour batter in hot pan and bake for 1 hour and 5 to 10 minutes.

Cool in pan for about 10 minutes before removing.
