Broken Glass Candy

Confectioners sugar
3 3/4 Cup sugar
1 1/4 Cup light Karo syrup
1 cup water
Food Coloring
1/2 tsp. oil flavoring such as
Cinnamon, Anise, Wintergreen, Rootbeer, etc.


Sprinkle confectioners sugar on (15x11x1 inch) cookie sheet. Combine sugar, Karo syrup and water in a heavy saucepan and stir over medium heat until sugar dissolves. Continue to cook without stirring, until syrup reaches 300 degrees on candy thermometer (Hard Crack). Remove from heat and add food coloring and desired flavoring. Pour onto cookie sheet. Sprinkle with more confectioners sugar. Cool and break into small pieces.

Makes 2 1/2 pounds
