OLD FASHIONED VINEGAR TAFFY
3 c sugar
1/4 tsp cream of tartar
dash of salt
3 tbsp butter
1/2 c water
1/4 c vinegar
Combine all the ingredients together and boil to a hard ball stage. (260 to 265) Pour onto buttered platters. As soon as
taffy is cool enough to handle, butter hands well, (TAKE OFF RINGS) and pull until it is white and pourous. Shape into
twisted ropes. cut into 1 inch pieces to resemble pillows. When thorooughly cool, wrap pieces in waxed paper.
NOTE: you may use more vinegar and less water, just so it amounts to 3/4 c liquid in all.
