Ground Sirloin Pizza Casserole

1 pound ground sirloin
2 cans (8 ounces each) tomato sauce or pizza sauce
1 teaspoon oregano
2 cups Bisquick
1 egg
2/3 cup milk
8 slices American cheese
1 can (2 ounces) sliced mushrooms, drained
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese


Heat oven to 400 degrees. Grease 9x9x2-inch pan.

Cook and stir ground beef until brown; drain. Mix in 1 can of tomato or pizza sauce and oregano. Simmer, uncovered, for 10 minutes. Keep hot while preparing batter.

Stir together baking mix, egg and milk. Spread half of the batter in pan. Pour remaining can of sauce over batter, spreading evenly. Layer 4 slices American cheese, beef mixture, mushrooms, remaining cheese slices and Parmesan cheese. Cover with remaining batter. Bake at 400 degrees for 20 to 25 minutes, until golden brown
