Caramel Candy Bar Cookies

1 cup flour
1 cup quick oats
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. baking soda
3/4 cup butter
3/4 cup sugar
1-14 oz. package Kraft caramels
1/3 cup evaporated milk
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
1 cup semi sweet chocolate chips
white chocolate

Preheat oven to 350° F.

In bowl combine flour, oats, baking soda and salt. Set aside.

In mixer bowl beat butter 30 seconds. Add sugar and beat til fluffy. Add oat mixture and beat just until crumbly. Be sure not to overbeat. Reserve 1 cup of this oat/crust mixture. Press remaining oat mixture into bottom of 9 x 13 pan. Bake in a preheated 350 oven for 10 minutes. Remove from oven and cool 10 minutes.

While crust is pre-baking melt caramels and evaporated milk in saucepan over low heat until melted and smooth. Spread melted caramel over cooled crust. Sprinkle with nuts, then reserved one cup of crumbs and then chocolate chips. Bake at 350 for 15-20 minutes. Cool.

Melt some white chocolate (about 1/2 to 2/3 cup white morsels) drizzle the melted white chocolate in a crisscross pattern over cooled cookies. When set cut cookies into small squares.

Note - these freeze very well.
