1 cup plus 3 tablespoons all purpose flour
1 cup quick oats, uncooked
3/4 cup firmly packed light brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup butter or margarine melted
1 jar (12.25 ounces) caramel topping
1 package (6 ounces) semisweet chocolate pieces
1/2 cup walnuts chopped
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
In large mixer bowl, combine 1 cup flour and next 5 ingredients, beat at low speed until well mixed. Evenly pat into an ungreased 13 x 9 inch pan. Bake 10 minutes. Meanwhile stir caramel topping and remaining 3 tablespoons flour until well mixed.
Remove pan from oven, sprinkle on chocolate pieces and walnuts. Drizzle on caramel mixture. Return pan to oven and continue baking 20 to 25 minutes more or until browned. Cool before cutting into 36 bars (2 3/4 x 1 inch)
