Chocolate Shortbread
1/2 cup butter, softened
1/2 cup powdered sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1/4 teaspoon almond extract
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 cups white flour
1 tablespoon cocoa powder
Preheat oven to 325°F.
Sift together flour and salt.
Cream butter with powdered sugar, then beat in vanilla and almond extracts. Mix in flour, cocoa powder and salt mixture till smooth.
Press into a 9- by 12-inch baking pan. Bake for 25 minutes, or until golden brown.
Cool, then cut into 3x3-inch squares.
Makes 12 squares, Recipe can be doubled.
