Chocolate Squares

Crust:
1/2 cup sweet butter, softened
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 cup flour

Batter:
2 beaten eggs
1/2 cup sugar
3 tbsp. cocoa
2 tbsp. all purpose flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla extract

Frosting:
1 cup confectioner's sugar
4 tbsp. cocoa
1 egg
2 tbsp. light corn syrup
4 tbsp. sweet butter
1 tsp. vanilla extract
Hot black coffee, as necessary.


Preheat to 350 degrees. Mix all ingredients together to form a dough. Press into an 8 inch square pan, then cover with batter.

Combine all batter ingredients and mix well. Pour over crust and bake for 35 minutes at 350. Frost when cool.

Mix all frosting ingredients, except the coffee, well. If this is too thick, add a few drops of hot coffee. Frost the cooled cake and cut into squares.
