Pecan Pie Surprise Bars
1 package yellow cake mix, divided
1/2 cup butter or margarine melted
1 egg
2/3 cup reserved cake mix
1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1 1/2 cups dark corn syrup
1 teaspoon vanilla
3 eggs
1 cup chopped pecans
Preheat oven to 350.
Grease bottom and sides of 13 x 9 inch baking pan.
Reserve 2/3 cup dry cake mix for filling.
In large mixing bowl, combine remaining dry cake mix, butter and 1 egg; mix till crumbly.
Press into prepared pan.
Bake for 15 to 20 minutes until light golden brown.
Meanwhile prepare filling.
In large bowl, combine remaining ingredients, beat at medium speed for 1 to 2 minutes.
Pour filling over partially baked crust; sprinkle with pecans, return to oven and bake for 30 to 35 minutes until filling is set.
Cool and cut into 36 bars.
