Chunky Brownies with a Crust

1 1/4 cups unsifted flour, divided
1/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup cold margarine or buttter
1 (14 oz) can Sweetened Condensed Milk (not evaporated)
1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1 (8 ounces) bar milk chocolate candy broken in small chunks
3/4 cup chopped nuts.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

In medium bowl, combine 1 cup flour and sugar. Cut in margarine until crumbly. Press firmly on bottom of 13 x 9 inch baking pan and bake 15 minutes.

Meanwhile in large mixer bowl, beat sweetened condensed milk, cocoa, egg, remaining 1/4 cup flour, vanilla and baking powder. Stir in milk chocolate chunks and nuts. Spread over prepared crust.

Bake 20 minutes or until center is set; cool. Sprinkle with confectioners' sugar if desired. Store tightly covered at room temperature.

Makes 36 brownies.
