Brownie Meringues

Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method

2 egg whites
dash salt
1/2 teaspoon vinegar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips -- (6 ounces) melted and cooled
3/4 cup nuts -- chopped (toasted if desired)

Chocolate Drizzle:
1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 teaspoon shortening


Place egg whites in a large mixing bowl; let stand at room temp. for 30 minutes.
Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C).

Beat egg whites with salt, vinegar and vanilla until soft peaks form.
Gradually add sugar, beating to stiff peaks. About 4 minutes (it took longer for me).
Fold in chocolate and nuts. Drop from teaspoon onto greased pan.

Bake 10-12 minutes. Let cool on racks.

In the microwave or small saucepan, melt 1/2 cup chocolate and shortening. Drizzle over cookies.
