No Bake Chocolate Oatmeals

2 cups sugar
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup cocoa
1/2 cup milk
3 cups quick-cooking rolled oats
1/2 cup nuts, chopped
1 teaspoon vanilla

Mix sugar, butter, cocoa, and milk in saucepan. Quickly bring to a boil, then reduce heat to medium. Boil 3 or 4 minutes to softball stage (234 °F). Remove from heat.

Stir in oats, nuts, and vanilla. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto waxed paper. Let stand until hardened, then refrigerate. Makes about 3 dozen cookies.
