Chocolate Banana Cookies

6 oz. pkg. semi-sweet chocolate morsels (1 cup)
2 1/4 cups sifted all-purpose Flour
2 tsps. baking powder
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 cup of mashed ripe bananas
11 T. butter
1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
1 cup granulated sugar
2 eggs
1 1/2 cups chopped walnuts

Melt chocolate morsels in microwave or double boiler. Remove and let cool.

Sift together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.

In a large bowl cream butter, add vanilla and sugar and beat well. Add eggs one at a time and beat well. On low speed gradually add sifed dry ingredients alternately with chocolate mixture and mashed bananas, scraping bowl frequently. Stir in chopped walnuts.

Drop dough teaspoonfuls onto foil lined cookie sheets 2" apart. Bake 12-14 minutes at 400 degrees, until top springs back. Let cookies stand a moment to begin to cool then transfer to rack.
