Wheat Germ Saucer Cookies

1 stick (1/2 c.) butter or margarine
1/2 c. brown sugar (spoon in in, do not pack it)
1/2 c. granulated sugar
1 egg
3/4 tsp. vanilla
3/4 c. regular wheat germ
3/4 c. unsifted flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 c. coconut, flaked
1/4 c. quick oatmeal, uncooked
1/2 c. semi-sweet chocolate bits

Beat together butter and sugar until well blended. Beat in egg and vanilla. Combine wheat germ, flour, baking powder, salt, coconut, oatmeal and chocolate bits. Mix well. Add flour mixture to sugar mixture. Mix well.

Drop dough by 1/4 cupfuls onto greased baking sheet about 5 inches apart. Flatten each mound slightly with back of spoon.

Bake in oven preheated to 375 degrees about 15 minutes or until golden and centers are firm. Cool in baking sheet for about 3 minutes. Remove from sheet and continue to cool.

Makes 10 cookies.
