Butterscotch Snaps
Source: Perfect Endings (an old Nestle cookbook)

1/2 c sugar
1/3 c butter or shortening
3 tbsp light corn syrup
1 egg
6 oz (1 c) butterscotch morsels
2 c sifted flour
1 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
granulated sugar for rolling

Preheat to 350 degrees.

Combine sugar, butter and corn syrup. Beat until creamy. Add egg and mix well.

Melt butterscotch morsels over hot but not boiling water. Remove. Stir into butter mixture.

Sift together the flour, baking soda and salt. Add to butter mixture and mix well. Form dough into 1 inch balls. Roll balls in granulated sugar.

Place on greased cookie sheet and bake for 10 minutes. Makes about 5 dozen.

Tip - to keep crisp, store in a tightly covered container.
