Formed Cookies Eggnog Kringla

Eggnog Kringla

4 C all-purpose flour
1 t baking powder
1/2 t baking soda
1/2 t ground nutmeg
3/4 C butter (not margarine)
1 1/2 C sugar
1 egg
1 C eggnog (dairy or nondairy)
For Garnish: sifted powdered sugar & ground nutmeg


In a large bowl stir together dry ingredients, except sugar. Set aside. In a large mixing bowl beat the butter with an electric mixer on medium speed to soften. Add sugar and beat til fluffy. Add egg and beat well. Add flour mixture and eggnog alternately, beating til well mixed. Cover and chill at least 4 hours.

Working with half the dough at a time, break off rounded tablespoonfuls and roll on a floured surface into pencils (8" long-1/2" thick). On greased cookie sheet form pencils into twists or pretzels. Bake in 350 degree oven for 6 to 8 minutes or until edges are lightly browned. Remove cookies to racks to cool.Sprinkle
with powdered sugar and nutmeg. Makes 48-60.
