Hidden Treasure Teacakes
1/2 cup powdered sugar
1 cup margarine or butter, softened
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 1/4 cups Gold Medal flour
1/2 cup finely chopped nuts
1/4 tsp salt
fillings:
chocolate or vanilla caramels, cut in fourths
chocolate stars or chocolate chips.
Heat oven to 400. Mix powdered sugar, margarine and vanilla in a large bowl. Stir in flour, nuts and salt till dough holds together. Mold dough around fillings to form 1 inch balls. Place 1 inch apart on ungreased cookie sheet.
Bake 10-12 minutes till set, but not brown. Roll in powdered sugar while warm. Cool; roll in powdered sugar again.
Makes 4 dozen.
