Formed Cookies Italian Pepper Cookies

ITALIAN PEPPER COOKIES

3 c. flour
1 c. sugar
3/4 c. cocoa (Hershey's)
3 tsp. baking powder
2 Tbsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. pepper (black)
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. ginger
1/4 tsp. salt
2 eggs, well beaten
2 tsp. vanilla
1 c. melted Crisco
1/2 c. sour milk
1/2 c. walnuts
Chocolate chips (optional)

To sour milk, add 1 Tablespoon lemon juice to milk; let stand about 10 minutes. Sift together dry ingredients: flour,sugar, cocoa, baking powder, cinnamon, pepper, nutmeg, ginger and salt. In another bowl mix eggs, vanilla, Crisco
and sour milk.

Combine dry ingredients to the egg mixture; add walnuts and chocolate chips. Roll like tiny meatballs. Bake 10 to 12 minutes in a 375 degrees oven. Set on wire rack to dry and frost.

Frosting:
1 c. confectioners sugar
2 Tbsp. milk
1/2 tsp. vanilla
Mix ingredients. Frost while still warm.
