American Sand Tarts

1 cp butter
2 1/4 cp sugar
2 eggs
4 cp sifted flour
1 egg white
almonds or pecans
ground cinnamon


Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs, mixing well. Stir in flour. Chill dough thoroughly.

Roll dough very thin and cut with 2 1/2 inch round cutter. Brush centers of rounds with egg white and put 1/2 almond or pecan in center of each cookie. Brush again with egg white and sprinkle nuts with trace of cinnamon

Place cookies about 1/2" apart on ungreased baking sheet. Bake in hot oven (400*) about 5 min. Remove cookies to cooling racks. Makes about 12 dozen.
