Eggnog Cookies

3/4 cup butter, softened
1 egg
1 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/4 teaspoon rum extract
2 1/2 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
pinch salt


In a large bowl beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in egg, vanilla and rum extract.

Combine dry ingredients. Stir into the butter mixture in 3 additions. Divide in half and flatten slightly.
Wrap and chill for 1 hour.

Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Roll out 1/4 inch thick and then cut into 2" rounds with a small rectangle on top to resemble an ornament. Place 1 inch apart on a greased cookie sheet. Bake at 375 for 10 minutes or until golden on the edges.
